Joanna qualified as a Clinical Psychologist at the world-renowned Institute of Psychiatry, University of London, in 1992. She has been a Consultant Clinical Psychologist since 1999 having met the standards of an independent assessment panel. She was the Head Psychologist for a specialist service in the NHS in Dorset until 2023 at which time she went on the expand her private practice.
Dr Bateman qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2009 and has a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, an honours degree in Psychology and is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council. Dr Bateman has over 15 years’ experience working with individuals with a range of psychological difficulties in numerous NHS services across London, alongside supporting clients in private practise.
Dr Krystel Shelmerdine qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2013 and has over 20 years’ experience working in a range of NHS settings. She has completed post-qualification training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). She has experience in assessing ADHD and other neurodivergent presentations and is particularly interested to support people living with neurodivergent conditions. She has also assisted people living with chronic pain. She has experience of providing consultation to teams in the workplace to promote effective team working and wellbeing.
Dr Dominika Kominkova is an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience across various NHS services. She is warm and compassionate and specialises in supporting individuals who struggle with the impact of trauma, including PTSD. She also specialises in working with addictions, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, emotional and relational difficulties.
Dr Tom Merrill is a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for guiding individuals toward meaningful change. He uses a distinctive, client-driven approach that can be applied across a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem issues, stress, and relationship problems. Rather than simply offering advice, he helps you dive deeper into your own reflections so that you can discover fresh perspectives on challenges that may have felt overwhelming. This flexible style focuses on the underlying patterns contributing to your concerns, allowing your work together to be tailored to your unique needs.
Dr Gash is an HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist with experience and expertise in delivering psychological therapies across NHS, charity, and private sectors.
Her specialisms and particular areas of interest include working with historic and recent experiences of trauma, working with neurodiverse clients, individuals experiencing emotional dysregulation and disordered eating.
Dr Phoebe Alonso is an HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years’ professional experience. She is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), the Division of Counselling Psychology (DCoP) and the Special Group in Coaching Psychology. She is also affiliated with the Qualitative Methods in Psychology Section and the Faculty for People with Intellectual Disabilities.
Jane Fox is our wonderful assistant from Pennine VA working with a small team. She has over 30 years’ experience in administrative support and also has an extensive background in psychology. She will be your first point of contact when you call or email and is happy to help you with any queries that you may have.
She can also assist with referrals, appointment bookings and invoice queries to ensure that everything runs smoothly for you in your therapeutic journey with Nexus Psychological Services. Her experienced team are also here to assist on the occasions that she may not be available, so there is always someone here to help you.
