Our approach to CBT

Our founder profile

I’m a HCPC-registered Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 35 years of experience in clinical psychology specialising in schema therapy and executive burnout recovery. I founded Nexus Psychological Services in 2025 to deliver targeted, evidence-based therapy for high-achievers facing mental health challenges. Burnout can be devastating for executives and leaders who have thrived on achievement yet have typically sacrificed their wellbeing with significant negative consequences including their relationships with others.

I have successfully used schema therapy with hundreds of patients experiencing a wide range of problems; it is an easy-to-understand framework with high face validity so almost everyone can get something out of this approach. I often see people with ‘unrelenting standards’ schema which makes people vulnerable to pushing themselves to achieve whilst ignoring or minimising the negative impact upon their mental state and wellbeing. When left untreated, there can be dire consequences on relationships, mood and an incapacity to experience joy. People often turn to maladaptive coping strategies such as abusing alcohol or drugs or other addictive behaviours. My schema therapy approach weakens punitive modes, rebuilds healthy adult functioning and prevents relapse, helping leaders to reclaim balance and presence.

My Values

Integrity, resilience and unconditional support drive my practise. I prioritise creating psychological safety where clients can confront vulnerabilities without judgment, drawing from my belief that true healing stems from self-compassion over self-criticism.

These values were forged through my own journey understanding the impact of maladaptive patterns like unrelenting standards, approval seeking and self-sacrificing behaviours. You can be assured of confidential, respectful and compassionate care.
